QUARTERLY REPORT OF ASSOCIATED COMPANIES ART ABOUT THE ITALIAN MARKET TREND
The indications provided by the ART associated companies regarding the state of health of the internal market are reported in aggregate form. The information was collected by the Association’s office in October 2019. The companies responded with reference to invoiced business.
1. FINAL EVALUATIONS
The trend in the third quarter offers some moderate optimism as half of the respondents have
reported an improvement compared to a year ago and only 10% shows a worse figure.
The trend observed in the last semester is of substantial stability.
2. forward-looking considerations
Prudence and stability are the two key words that characterize the forecasts formulated by the associated companies.
The year that is about to end will confirm the same levels as the previous year for 60% of respondents. It reduces in the share of pessimists (10% against 22% recorded after the
second quarter), while the share of those who “see” a 2019 better than 2018 rises.
For what concerns the forecast of trends referring to the general Italian economic situation in the short term,
stability has the clear prevalence of responses (70%) and makes pessimistic (20%) and optimistic shares marginal
These prudential valuations take into account the general situation marked by clear signs of uncertainty on the
international plan (Brexit, new US duties and the winds of war at the doors of Europe) and internally (a
weak government expected from difficult tests starting from the Budget Law).
Many unknown factors remain open about 2020, which the latest economic analyses indicate as the year of ongoing difficulty and not as the year of economic recovery.
